Strawberry Hill U.S.A.

We had some more visitors this weekend!  Our house has been full of family and friends this summer, which we love!  We know Spartanburg isn't the most exciting place to come and visit but we really enjoy sharing our town (and its surrounding towns) to some of our favorite people. 

This last weekend Adam's mom (whose name is Susan, the same as my mom) and stepdad, Hank, came down for the weekend.  Susan mentioned that she wanted to get some peaches before she left and mentioned stopping at Abbott's on the way into town.  But, why do that when Strawberry Hill U.S.A. is just around the corner?!

We decided to meet up in Boiling Springs before driving up to Chesnee for lunch at the cafe.  They have great food, but what they are really known for is their produce and their ice cream.  So after burgers, pimento cheese sandwiches and a quesadilla we indulged in some of the best homemade peach ice cream I have had in a long time.  They may even give Yum Yum Better Ice Cream (they will never touch their Mint Chocolate Chip though!) a run for their money.  And, that is saying a lot!

After lunch, we went to the produce stand - or really, really large produce building.  Peaches are in season and they had all kinds of varieties to choose from!  We got a buschel of July Flame Peaches to split between us as well as some squash and zucchini.  Adam's mom also got some muscadine jam that was quite tasty!  We have been enjoying peaches at just about every meal since.

Susan and Hank liked Strawberry Hill so much, they went back on their way back to Greensboro and got a second buschel of peaches!  They have been sharing them with everyone they come across since. 

Everyone loves our South Carolina peaches.  Just one of many reasons why you should come visit us during the summer months!
