Hawaii - Day 1

Adam and I decided this Spring we really needed to go see our family in Hawaii - Kate, Brad, Zoe, and Zac.  Our nephew Zac was already 18 months old and we had yet to meet him.  And, we doubted we would have the chance to go to Hawaii for a VERY long time.  We made the arrangements, took off from work, and booked our tickets.  It was a decision I am so very glad we made.

Our trip officially started Monday, August 23rd when we left Greensboro at 5 am (Mom and Dad graciously kept our furry family members {one each} for us to save a bit of money).  We boarded a plane from Charlotte to Minneapolis, MN at 8:30 am and were officially on our way!  The 3+ hour trip to Minneapolis made the 8+ hour plane trip to Honolulu seem easy!

Only 8 more hours to go!
8 more hours in a plane???
We arrived in Hawaii just after 4 their time (10:00 pm EST).  Brad and Zoe greeted us with fresh leis that Zoe had picked out herself from the lei stands at the airport.
From the plane at the Honolulu Airport

They then took us back to their house on the airforce base where we got to meet Zac for the first time!  What a cutie!  He is moving around like a champ and already almost as big a three year old.  It was great to catch up with our family.

Since the base is right on the water we took a sunset walk before crashing (hard!) in the visiting officers quarters they had reserved for us.
